This is what happiness feels like.
Like being above yourself; above your body, above your fears and hopes.
Above loss and depression.
If you could imagine anything above that.
It's what "it" feels like.
And when you feel "it" you're completely caught off guard.
Like getting the wind knocked out of you, or getting fired.
Like taking a deep breath and feeling human.
"Feeling human" is not something naturally felt by all humans.
It's something you're reminded of.
Feeling human.
Like feeling the flesh of some one new.
Whether they are slipping themselves inside of you, or their fingers are grazing your hand during a transaction; that is feeling "human".
Those are the times you're reminded.
Is it solely flesh?
I'm not sure.
It could be humbling emotional experiences.
Like when your baby sister says
"It's not funny to be called 'anorexic'. It's not."
Those are human, humbling experiences I thrive on.
Take your breath,
don't know what to say,
caught off guard moments where you realize you're an idiot
and you better start paying attention.
